The system Na 2 O - SiO 2, used in the design of compositions for the manufacture of gas microcontainers (microspheres), has been studied. Based on the well-known equation, an expression for the dependence of the hydrogen permeability coefficient of glasses on the silicate modulus is obtained. It was found that an alkaline modifier, even in the form of an impurity, can affect the gas permeability. It is concluded that it is necessary to apply criteria-based assessment in the design of glasses. A nomogram was obtained to determine the silicate modulus, hydrogen permeability coefficient, phase composition, and the probability of glass formation in the Na 2 O - SiO 2 system.
