The results of X-ray and IR spectroscopic studies of samples of non-stoichiometric alumomagnesian spinel Mg 1-x Al 2-y O 4-z (OH) z , formed after treatment with concentrated acids of magnesia-alumina spinel synthesized by the sol-gel method at temperatures of 800 and 1100 ° C. It was found that three phases of nonstoichiometric alumina-magnesian spinel Mg 1-x Al 2-y O 4-z (OH) z with tetragonal lattices and different types of superstructure. X-ray diffraction patterns of two phases correspond to body-centered gratings with parameters a = 5.712 (3) A, c = 8.092 (3) A and a = 5.714 (3) A, c = 18.833 (35) A. : a = 5.718 (3) A, c = 24.261 (27) A.
