Compositions and properties of glass coatings intended for steel protection at hot deformation temperatures are given. Up to 75% of coal ash - waste from thermal power plants - was added to the glass coatings. The oxidation rates of 08kp steel under the layer of the proposed coatings and in air have been determined.
