Structural changes in glass-enamels in firing with varied iron oxides content

The structures of enamel with different contents of iron oxide have been investigated. It is shown that the structure changes with an increase in the concentration of iron oxide. The increased mobility of silicon-oxygen groups surrounded by iron cations causes their rearrangement into a crystalline phase with minimal energy.
