In the mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis using solid in-reaction oxidants, unsubstituted and substituted by alkaline earth metals, cerium chromites are synthesized. The characteristic temperatures and features of the processes of interaction of components in all studied systems have been determined. The structural and physicochemical, including spectroscopic, characteristics of the synthesis products were studied depending on the substituting alkaline earth metal and the degree of substitution.
