Three independent float glass production methods developed by Pilkington (England), Pi-Pi-Gee Industries (USA) and Saratov Glass Institute (Russia) are considered. The fundamental differences between these methods are shown. The stages of creation by the Saratov Institute of a two-stage glass molding method are highlighted. Il. 6.

A set of statistical characteristics of the strength of tempered glass upon impact with a ball is considered. It is shown that under the conditions of production, the asymmetry of the strength of float glass tends to a sharp decrease. Il. 2, bibliography: 2 titles.

The effect of boron orthophosphate additives on the properties of metaphosphate glasses was studied using the example of glassy sodium and aluminum metaphosphates. The positive effect of BPO ₄ on the chemical resistance of glasses to hydrofluoric acid and water has been established. Tab. 2, bibliography: 4 titles.

It is shown that the inhomogeneity in the thickness of the oxide coatings of titanium, aluminum, and zirconium deposited by the sol-gel method on glass is associated with the influence of the mesostructure of oxide components and quantum transfer in individual regions of the waveguide light. Simple technologies have been developed for the manufacture of cheap ceramic fibers suitable for metal reinforcement and the manufacture of highly porous ceramic parts of a fibrous structure intended for reinforcing the piston crown of an internal combustion engine. Il. 2, bibliography: 4 titles.

The possibility of obtaining durable porous ceramics based on aluminum oxide using a mixture of silicon carbide with an activating additive as a binder and ammonium bicarbonate as a pore-forming agent is shown. It is shown that, to intensify the sintering of chamotte-kaolin masses, refractory easily sintered plastic clays should be replaced with refractory clay. Recommendations are given on the choice of the method of preparation and introduction into the mass of the specified additive. The developed technology has been tested in pilot industrial conditions. The Steklomash plant specializes in the production of large technological equipment for the glass industry of high quality. Il. 4.

A technological flow-mechanized line for the manufacture of long-length hollow articles of tubular electroceramics is considered. The line consists of an automated system for forming and drying tubes, a glazing unit, a firing module and a cutting machine. The introduction of the line makes it possible to automate the laborious operations of forming, drying, glazing and firing. Tab. 2, ill. 2, bibliography: 2 titles.

Comparative characteristics of the use of evaporative cooling of the walls of glass-making furnaces in comparison with air and water cooling are given. The expediency of using evaporative cooling in order to save energy and extend the campaign of the furnaces is shown. Bibliography: 13 titles.

Various heating methods for glass quenching, their advantages and disadvantages are considered. The developed system of hardening "Tamglass HTF ProE" uses the latest methods, which make it possible to control the temperature. The use of this system allows us to produce high quality products. Hydroxyapatite coatings based on phosphate binders were obtained. The adhesive characteristics of the coatings were investigated, their TCLE and the effect of temperature on the strength of the coating material were determined. An analysis is given of the known barium crystals, as well as barium-containing electrovacuum glasses. The possibility and expediency of their use in the production of light sources is shown.
