Methods for calculating the strength properties of glass plates, such as deflection and stresses arising when a static load is applied to the glass, are presented. The features of various methods for calculating deflections and stresses are considered. The mathematical formulation of the problem is described and the results of the numerical solution of the obtained problem for a fourth-order partial differential equation, the so-called biharmonic equation, developed by the authors by the grid method, are given. A method for preliminary briquetting of a foam glass batch is considered, which allows not only to simplify production, but also to change the characteristics of foam glass in a targeted manner, by adjusting the parameters of the production of briquettes. The rational parameters for the manufacture of briquettes for obtaining foam glass on various technological bonds have been determined, their optimal dosages have been determined. It has been established that foam glass of lower density is obtained from denser briquettes. Il. 3, bibliography: 4 titles.

Methods for solving the problem of accounting for the oxide composition of cullet when calculating the recipe for a glass batch are considered. An approach to automating the solution of this problem within the program for calculating the recipe is described. Bibliography: 1 titles.

A technology has been developed for the synthesis of synthetic minerals (for example, spinel) using a low-temperature plasma torch. The diagnostic properties of spinel were determined. Tab. 1, bibliography: 9 titles.

The results of obtaining blue-blue cobalt-containing spinels by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis are presented. The influence of the synthesis conditions and composition on the structure of the obtained compounds is shown. It is shown that an increase in the strength characteristics of ceramic products molded from weakly sintered polymineral low-melting clay raw materials and calcareous clays occurs due to an increase in the total amount of montmorillonite component in the charge; organogenic nature of calcite of calcareous clays, which contributes to the creation of a local reducing environment during firing, influencing the transition of Fe ³⁺ to Fe ²⁺ and promoting earlier sintering of clay; the presence of gypsum impurities in calcareous clays, which is a strong flux. The directions of improving the technology of glass production at the plant are shown. The work of a glass-melting furnace when using fuel oil as fuel is considered. Tab. 1.

The plant's experience in the creation and operation of rational cooling systems for circulating water supply for glass industries is considered. The reconstruction made it possible to reduce the consumption of fresh water by 10 times. Tab. 1, ill. 1, bibliography: 2 titles.

To prevent glass defects formed from the lining that breaks down during operation, and to maintain the operable state of the float bath equipment, it is necessary to use high-quality refractory materials, developed taking into account the peculiarities of their service. At the Saratov Institute of Glass, the maximum permissible parameters of fluctuations in the composition of the gaseous medium in the melt bath, causing the destruction of the refractory lining, have been determined. Tests were carried out under operational conditions of new types of composite materials - concretes on a fireclay refractory base, manufactured at the Semiluki Refractory Plant. As a result of microscopic studies of the clays of the Gzhel deposit, a change in the structure and texture was established depending on the natural color of the clay.
