  • Laser Writing of the Polarization ? Sensitive Birefringent Microdo-mains in Sodium Borosilicate Glass

    • Pages: 3-8
The possibility of the formation of birefringent microregions in sodium borosilicate glass with the composition 68 SiO 2, 27 B 2 O 3, 4 Na is demonstrated. 2 O, 1 Al 2 O 3 (molar content, & # 37;), the birefringence of which is associated with the formation of nanolattices, and its slow axis is oriented perpendicular to the plane polarization of the recording laser beam. The dependences of the phase shift in the light passing through these microregions on the number and energy of the laser pulses that formed them were determined. It was shown by confocal Raman spectroscopy that the content of sodium cations decreases in the formed microregions.

  • Influence of Particle Size of Aluminum Oxide Powder on Spark-Plasma Sintering

    • Pages: 15-20
The results of a comparative study of compacts obtained from nano- and ultradispersed (UF) powders of aluminum oxide with a spherical shape of particles by the method of spark-plasma sintering are presented. It is shown that UF powder compacts achieve higher density, strength, microhardness, and structure homogeneity with finer grain than nanopowder compacts. Preliminary magnetic-pulse compaction of the powders before sintering improves the characteristics of both compacts, but UF powder compacts achieve greater density and strength with smaller grain sizes. In both cases of preliminary preparation, compacts obtained from UF powder have advantages over compacts obtained from nanopowder.
  • Researches of the Mechanism of Brittle Fracture of the Cutting Ceramics

    • Pages: 21-23
A study was made of the cyclic strength of domestically produced oxide-carbide ceramics during the processing of hardened steel samples installed in the faceplate body under intermittent turning conditions. Turning was carried out until the destruction of the cutting edge of the plates. The structure of the destroyed surface layer is investigated and the mechanism of destruction of the cutting edge of tool plates made of cutting ceramics is determined. It has been established that the low performance of cutting inserts made of oxide-carbide ceramics under interrupted turning conditions is mainly caused by chipping of the cutting edge due to the formation of microcracks at grain boundaries. A characteristic feature of the brittle fracture mechanism of cutting ceramics is intergranular tearing and spalling of large grains AL 2 O 3

  • Research of Reasons and Determination of Critic Mechanical Impacts on Pins in Metalglass Units Leading to Breaking of Tightness

    • Pages: 33-37
The article presents the results of an experimental study of the influence of the influence of twisting and bending forces on the terminals of sealed metal-glass products (MSI), leading to depressurization. The critical values ??of the angles of rotation and bending of the leads at which the glass starts to break are indicated. Shown are the technological features of the manufacture of MSI, which increase the strength properties of the metal-to-glass junction.
The results obtained are of interest in the manufacture of various sealed relays and devices, explain the possible reasons for the depressurization of devices.

  • 150th anniversary of D.I.Mendeleev's Table

    • Pages: 44-44
One hundred and fifty years ago, on March 6, Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev published a work of world-historical significance: it reported on the discovery of the periodic law of chemical elements. At the time of the discovery of the periodic law, only 63 elements were known, and most recently, in 2010, the 118th element was synthesized. Many elements were predicted by Dmitry Ivanovich, and this fundamentally distinguishes his work from attempts by foreign scientists to systematize and periodize the data available at that time.
Glass and ceramics are those materials that literally contain the entire periodic table - from hydrogen to rare earth and transuranic elements. The editorial board and editorial board of the magazine & # 171; Glass and ceramics & # 187; We sincerely congratulate the entire glass and ceramic community on the anniversary of the main law in the history of chemistry.

  • Cellular Glass on the Basis of Half-Glass Waste for the Production of Energy-Efficient Threelayer Construction Panels

    • Pages: 28-32
Technologies have been developed for the manufacture of slabs and porous aggregate from cellular glass based on ash and slag waste from Novocherkasskaya SDPP, as well as structural and heat-insulating lightweight concrete. On their basis, three-layer energy-efficient panels were obtained for use in frame-panel housing construction.

  • Calciumposphate Penokeramics on the Basis of Powder Mixture Hydroxyapatite?Brochites

    • Pages: 38-44
Introduction to the impregnating suspension based on hydroxyapatite powder, heat-treated at 800 ° C, 10 - 50 ° C; (by weight) of brushite powder heated at 50 ° C, after firing at 1200 ° C leads to partial decomposition of hydroxyapatite to tricalcium phosphate of the & # 945; - and & # 946; - modifications. The presence of the tricalcium phosphate phase in calcium phosphate foam ceramics contributes to an increase in porosity from 40 to 60 & # 37; and the degree of resorption with a significant decrease in static strength from 3 - 7 to 0.3 MPa

  • Design Aspects of Transport and Technological Lines for Condi-tional Quartz Sand Unloading in Batch Plants

    • Pages: 9-14
The features of the design of transport and technological lines of conditioned quartz sand used for the preparation of glass batch in compound shops are considered. Various options for unloading, storage and classification of this raw material are presented. The need to perform additional separation of conditioned quartz sand containing random impurities is noted.

  • Fluid-Glass Radiation-Resistant Heat-Regulating Coating

    • Pages: 24-27
A study of pigments and binders was carried out to obtain a radiation-resistant thermoregulatory coating (TRP) for spacecraft. On the basis of the selected components, a radiation-resistant thermo-regulating coating was obtained. Based on the results of ground tests, an assessment of the resistance of the coating was carried out during operation in the geostationary orbit (GSO) for 15 years. Comparative characteristics of white heat distribution devices (based on BaSO 4), which are currently most used in Russia, are presented.
